For many years Michael has been involved in football, having played at various levels of the football pyramid and is also a successful manager at National County level and  previously at a Senior West Lancashire League Club, as well as working part time in the sport and taking the relevant coaching qualifications in his spare time.

Michael held a voluntary role as Head Coach of the Lancashire Schools FA Girls U14s and did so for 5 seasons up to the end of the 20129/20 season.  During this time, he won the Northern County Champions title 3 times in succession since its inaugural season and also reached the Inter County National Cup Final each season, winning the title on 3 occasions and runners up twice, which are the only defeats he encountered in the 5 seasons as Head Coach.

Other Football roles Michael has held include:


-Blackburn Rovers Football Club as a Head Coach for the Girls RTC / Centre of Excellence.

-Manchester United Soccer Schools, helping to deliver, residential coaching courses, MUSS road shows, player and club development programmes as a coach and also a co-ordinator.

- Chairman of a successful West Lancashire Football Club that had 4 Adult Teams and  10 Junior Teams.
